Understand your dental benefits before enrolling
- Preventive care: covered in-network preventive services are paid at 100%, without a deductible, including two routine exams and cleanings per policy year, subject to policy limits.
- Deductible: $100 per covered person per policy year for covered non-preventive dental services.
- Basic services: the plan pays 60% in the first policy year and 80% in the second year and after, following the deductible.
- Major services: where included, the plan pays 15% in the first policy year and 50% in the second year and after, following the deductible. Basic does not cover major services.
- Waiting periods: no waiting periods for preventive, basic and most major dental services. Covered implants have a 12-month waiting period.
- Benefit limits: dental payments are subject to the plan maximum and service limits. A policy year is the 12-month period beginning on your effective date.

These plans use the National Options PPO 30 dental network. You may see a non-network dentist, but you may pay more. Non-network reimbursement varies by plan and ZIP code, and the dentist may bill you for amounts above the plan payment. Confirm your dentist’s participation in your specific plan and office location before enrolling or receiving care.
For DentalWise Max, use the vision provider search or UnitedHealthcare Hearing resources.
This is a summary, not a complete description or insurance contract. Benefits are subject to policy terms, covered-service definitions, exclusions, frequency limits and Texas variations. Review the linked brochures and policy before purchasing. These plans do not cover orthodontics. Dental insurance is separate from comprehensive medical coverage and from dental discount programs.

Texas dental insurance questions
How much does dental insurance cost in Texas?
Your premium depends on the available plan, location and applicant details. Use the dental quote button for current rates, then compare the deductible, benefit maximum and your share of treatment costs. Bill can help you review the options before you enroll.
How do I check whether my dentist participates?
Use the Find a Dentist link and confirm participation for your specific plan and office location. Ask the office to verify the network before scheduling treatment; accepting an insurer is not always the same as participating in your plan.
What is the difference between DentalWise and DentalWise Max?
DentalWise provides dental coverage. DentalWise Max combines dental, vision and hearing benefits. Compare the brochures above, including service limits and network requirements, to decide which benefits you want.
What should I check if I need a crown, root canal or implant?
Confirm that the service is covered by the specific plan, check any waiting period and ask how much of the annual benefit maximum remains. Review your estimated out-of-pocket cost with your dentist and insurer before treatment. Implant benefits are available only on certain plans and have a waiting period and a separate lifetime limit.
Does a higher annual benefit maximum mean every dental bill is paid?
No. The maximum is a limit on eligible plan payments, not a promise to pay every bill. Deductibles, coinsurance, exclusions, frequency limits and network rules still apply.
Can I buy dental coverage separately from my health insurance?
These are separate dental policies for individuals and families. Review the application and policy for eligibility and available coverage. If you already have dental benefits through another plan, ask Bill to help compare them before adding a policy.
Can I get personal help instead of enrolling online?
Yes. Call or text Bill Brann at 361-249-0585, or request a dental review through the quote form. Independent Health Plans is based in Corpus Christi and helps shoppers throughout Texas.
